About Dr Kari Carstairs
I obtained my undergraduate degree in experimental psychology from the University of
Oxford and I did my doctoral training in clinical psychology at Widener University in
Pennsylvania, USA, graduating with distinction in 1991.
I have worked in in-patient psychiatric wards, GP surgeries, specialist psychotherapy
services and community mental health centres in the NHS. This breadth of experience
means that I have come across all sorts of psychological difficulties and I am aware of
the different treatment options.
I started in independent private practice part time in 1993. I left the NHS in 1998 to
work full time in my own practice where I provide a range of treatment and assessment
services.
